WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) - A Westfield family narrowly escaped serious injury when a truck smashed into their home at 16259 Countryside Blvd.

Around midnight, the homeowner had just sat down on his couch when he heard a noise outside.?

Suddenly, his bookcase began shaking and a pick-up slammed through the wall.

Debris flew across his living room.

The truck hit the couch and abruptly stopped.

The man yelled to his wife who was upstairs with their child.? Both were safe.?

His wife immediately called 911 and the family got out of the home safely.

Westfield firefighters arrived and worked to free the driver who was still trapped inside the vehicle which made it halfway into the home.

Within seven minutes, crews had the driver out and into medical care. The driver was treated and released at the scene.

Firefighters spent the next hour rebuilding the demolished wall so the family could go back inside.

"While this was a tragic night for out Westfield family, we are so fortunate no one was seriously injured," said John Barrett, spokesperson for the Westfield Fire Department.
