Narine admits Knight Riders were under pressure at CLT20 - Bettor

Narine admits Knight Riders were under pressure at CLT20 ? Cricket news Update

Promising Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Sunil Narine, on Thursday admitted that his IPL franchise was under pressure in the ongoing Champions League T20 tournament, in South Africa.

Narine?s comments have come after the reigning Indian Premier League champions were knocked out of the esteemed league, after failing to register a single win in their three CLT20 outings so far. The Gautam Gambhir led KKR outfit miserably lost their opening two group A fixtures against Delhi daredevils and qualifiers Auckland Aces before a rained out game against Australia?s Perth Scorchers last night ended their hopes of making the tournament semi-finals.

?I think there is always pressure once you win a tournament and you go to the next tournament,? said Narine while speaking to media reporters after their match against Scorchers was abandoned due to rain.

The Knight Riders desperately needed to win Wednesday?s match against Scorchers to remain in the hunt, after losing their opening two matches.

?We were hoping to win this game and somehow qualify. But the guys are still keen on playing their last game. So hopefully, we can give a good performance,? the Trinidadian off-spinner added further.

The reigning IPL champions have looked completely out of sorts in the tournament so far. Barring Narine, who picked up five wickets in three appearances, almost all of the KKR players ? bowlers as well as batsmen ? struggled to make an impact on the bouncy South African pitches.

Replying to a query regarding his own performance in the tournament, the mystery spinner said that he would like to be an average performer in a winning side rather being exceptional in a losing cause.

"It has been pretty decent for me but not good for the team. So, even though I am performing well, the team is more important. So, it would have been better if the team did well and my performance was iffy; then there would have been a lot more success on this tour," he said.

Having already been knocked out of the event, Gautam Gambhir and men will take on Titans on Sunday, in what will be their swansong appearance in this year?s Champions League T20 tournament.
